Floydd Ricketts is an award-winning Canadian conductor, music director, chorus master, orchestrator,
music supervisor, and educator based in Montréal, Québec. Equally at home in the concert hall, rehearsal
room, and theatre, he is recognized for his collaborative leadership, musical versatility, ability to bring together
artists from diverse backgrounds, artistic excellence, thoughtful collaboration, and storytelling through music.​​

A graduate of the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, Floydd holds a Doctor of Music in Choral Conducting. His work spans professional musical theatre, opera, orchestral, and choral performance, with a particular interest in ​creating meaningful artistic experiences through ensemble-making. He currently serves as Artist-in-Residence and Director of Choirs at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, where he conducts multiple ensembles and teaches conducting, choral music, and vocal performance.

As a music director and conductor, Floydd has collaborated with artists and companies across Canada and the United States, including Crow's Theatre, the National Arts Centre, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Shaw Festival, the Grand Theatre, Voices of Ukraine, the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, Opera Saratoga, Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, YES Theatre, and the Orchestre Philharmonique et Chœur des Mélomanes. His work has encompassed musical direction, music supervision, chorus preparation, orchestral conducting, and the development of new Canadian works.

Equally passionate about education and mentorship, Floydd is a sought-after clinician and guest conductor, working with community ensembles, schools, and emerging artists throughout North America. His approach to leadership emphasizes trust, curiosity, and creating rehearsal spaces where musicians feel challenged, supported, and inspired to contribute their best work.
